The Story Behind our Hair Tie Bangles
Welcome! I’m Tracy, founder of Gypsea Loop.
Our Hair Tie Bangles were inspired by a problem many of us know too well - hair ties digging into our wrists, leaving marks, and ruining an otherwise polished look. We set out to transform that daily necessity into something beautiful, functional, and designed for everyday wear.
⟡ Where It All Began
Over the years, working as a photographer, I always made sure my lovely subjects looked their best for their photos. It became common practice to ask ladies to take their hair ties off their wrists - something I was forever guilty of doing myself.
Fast forward a few years later where I stepped out from behind the camera to be in front of it, as part of The Blonde Nomads (our award winning adventure and travel business), where I was presenting on stage to a large audience, or filming content for our social media, only to later see images and videos of myself with an ugly hair tie on my wrist ruining the shots. Whoops! Why didn't I remember to take it off!
⟡ Solving the Problem
Once I noticed how often those scrappy hair ties were sneaking into my own photos, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Surely there had to be a better way for those of us with long hair to keep a hair tie handy - without dents in the skin or a band wrapped around the wrist ruining the look.
After years of frustration, I finally set out to design a solution.
As a busy mum of two, ocean lover, and nomadic traveller, I knew my design needed to be:
✓ Strong - for an adventurous, active lifestyle
✓ Durable - so you can swim, sweat, and shower in
✓ Stylish - sleek enough to wear all day, every day, from AM to PM
⟡ The Solution
After months of research, countless sketches, and plenty of testing, the Gypsea Loop bangle range was born.
Each bangle is crafted from high-quality stainless steel and finished with a luxury PVD coating - the same process used by brands like Rolex and Cartier. This makes them:
- Hypoallergenic
- 100% waterproof, sweat proof & tarnish-proof
- Nickel-free and made to last
Choosing PVD also meant choosing the lowest-impact process available - it creates little waste, is energy-efficient, and results in jewellery designed for lifelong wear. For me, that was just as important as the design itself.
And because we believe in giving back, 1% of all profits are donated to conservation projects. So when you wear your Gypsea Loop, you’re not only elevating your everyday style - you’re also helping protect the planet we all love.
